I have laid before the Postmaster General your letter of the 29th ultimo, enclosing a dispatch from the Acting Governor of Hong Kong, and, with reference to the enquiry made in the concluding part of this despatch, His Lordship has desired me to request that you have the goodness to state to the Duke of Newcastle that, under the arrangement proposed in the letter from this Office of the 30th July last, for the registration of letters between Hongkong and the Australian Colonies, the Government of Hong Kong will be at liberty to fix the amount of the Registration fee to be charged on letters sent from Hongkong to Australia, the several Australian Colonies being at liberty...
